A former judge prior to joining the Firm, Judge Brau served for over 20 years in the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals and received numerous special designations by the Chief Justice of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court to preside over complex civil and criminal cases. Early on, Judge Brau served as a law clerk to the Hon. Carlos V. Dávila, Associate Justice at the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico (1982-1983) and to the Hon. Levin H. Campbell, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit (1984-1985).
He has also served as an adjunct professor in the University of Puerto Rico School of Law and the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law (1992-2008), where he has lectured on the following topics: Jurisprudence, Appellate Practice, Philosophy of Law, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, and Torts. He has lectured several courses at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Puerto Rico as well, in addition to offering a series of seminars for judges at the Puerto Rico Judicial Academy.
